What Exercises Are On The Wii Active?

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

The Nintendo Wii is an revolutionary game system that is unique from any other platform available. Most games are controlled with the Wii mote with motion detection that puts you in the center of the action. What developers quickly found is this made it perfect for exercise type games. May of 2009 saw the release of wii active from EA sports and the response has been amazing. Customers love the game and the motivation it gives them to get off the couch, and into shape. Wii Active exercises are divided into four categories.

Cardio

In order to get your heart pumping Wii active offers a number of high-energy movements such as fast dance, punching bag, cardio boxing, run, cardio dance and several more. You may need to string several together to get the recommended 20 minutes of cardio but that is easily accomplished.

Upper Body- Resistance

If you are interested in toning your upper body, Wii active has exercises and a resistance band for you. A virtual trainer will take you through bicep curls, shoulder presses and lifts, monitoring your movements through the motion controllers.

Lower Body

For the lower half of the body there are some intense squats, lunges, kick ups, side lunges and jump squats to tone and firm. The Wii Active comes with a special leg holster for the motion controller to help with your form. Another nice feature about the Wii Active is you have the option to alter your workouts for knee injury or weakness in any area of your body. With a couple of clicks, these exercises can be taken out of your routine until you are better able to perform them.

Sports Actions

The final category of exercises you can experience on Wii Active are the sports movements. Through mimicking baseball batting, catching and throwing, basketball moves and boxing punches you will get an intense workout that will increase in complexity as you improve.

Overall, Wii Active from EA sports really delivers in the exercise arena. This game allows you to customize your workout and participate in challenges. Two thumbs way up for the Wii Active exercise game.
