What’s The Difference Between Wii Fit and Wii Active?

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

Although suited for both men and women alike, the majority of the world’s female population can benefit greatly from EA’s new product, the wii active. Why? Because it caters to their health requirements by presenting them with a variety of exercises ranging from yoga, aerobics, and even outdoor activities.

One of the differences between Wii Active and Wii Fit is the mat. The Wii Fit has introduced a green mat meant to be placed beneath the Wii Fit’s balance board. Wii Active does not require the use of this mat which, to some, is a big plus due to the added expense and level of fitness required to use the balance board safely. Instead, Wii Active users can utilize resistance bands that measure the amount of strength output each person gives. The nunchuk/controller pocket holds the controller while you do leg exercises and gauges exercise techniques and repetitions.

Because its target market is the female population, Wii Active’s virtual trainer has a striking resemblance to Oprah’s trainer Bob Greene. He is there to guide you as you go through a variety of movements. As you sweat it out, the trainer eggs you further and encourages you to continue. This is an excellent motivational tool that keeps you on track during your workouts.

The best thing about this new technological advance is the fact that the participants are given the freedom to choose their exercise regime should they get bored with their routine. Now, Wii Active users no longer get disinterested by doing the same old routine because they have the opportunity to choose which exercise interests them the most.

The Wii Active also has a total body, structured fitness plan called the 30 day challenge. From recent feedback made by those who have joined the Wii Active 30-day challenge, it sounds like this product is developing nicely.
